Mawae set to retire

Former Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl center Kevin Mawae has decided to call it quits after 16 NFL seasons.

Mawae was one of the very best at his position over a long portion of his career, as he was named to eight Pro Bowls.

He still wanted to continue his playing career but could not find many interested teams this offseason.

He believes the lack of interest in his services has to do with the fact that he is head of the Players Association.

With a potential lockout looming next season, Mawae believes owners have decided keep him off the field.
